Strategy and Wargaming – 11th March – Command & Conquer, Burden of Command, Strategic Command – World War 2: War In The Pacific

Hello! You probably noticed that I’ve been publishing more often. However, Strategy and Wargaming Weekly news round-up isn’t going anywhere, and will still be composed of the weekly news you so very much enjoy. If you have any suggestions, please email me!

Command & Conquer Games On Steam?

Looks like it! Command and Conquer The Ultimate Collection is finally free from the captivity it endured on Origin. For 10 dollars, you can get all these classic (and legendary), real-time strategy games

Command & Conquer; Command & Conquer: The Covert Operations; Command & Conquer: Red Alert; Command & Conquer: Red Alert: Counterstrike; Command & Conquer: Red Alert: The Aftermath; Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun; Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun Firestorm; Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2; Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2: Yuri’s Revenge; Command & Conquer: Renegade; Command & Conquer: Generals; Command & Conquer: Generals: Zero Hour; Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars; Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars: Kane’s Wrath; Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3; Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3: Uprising; Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight.

Is this EA’s way of testing the waters for a future Command & Conquer title?

Strategic Command – World War 2: War In The Pacific

Fury Software has announced its plans to complete the trilogy of its World War 2 videogames, with the upcoming launch of Strategic Command WW2: War In The Pacific. Not a whole lot more was added, but if you want to be one of the first to play the game, then they’re looking for beta testers, and you can apply here.

Headquarters: World War 2 Out April 11th

Slitherine’s Battle Academy spiritual success, Headquarters: World War 2 has a release date, and it’s coming out on the 11th of April, 2024, just a couple of weeks from now. The game had me impressed during its demo, being a fast-paced, turn-based strategy game with a large emphasis on vehicular combat.

Headquarters: World War 2 has big shoes to fill, but if the final product is as good as its demo, I firmly believe we might have a new entry on every other list of friendly wargames for recent genre dwellers.

Hearts of Iron 4: Trial of Allegiance Available Now

Hearts of Iron 4 keeps going down the alternate history route, and this time it’s extending its parallel universe shenanigans all the way across the Atlantic Ocean in Hearts of Iron 4: Trial of Allegiance by expanding some of the South American nation’s options to impact things on both a regional and global level. Argentina, Brazil and Chile are getting new National Focus Trees, and the game is adding new voice lines and 3D units. Other than that, there are no new mechanics, so the 15-dollar price tag might be a bit steep for what basically amounts to some basic mods, and its “mostly negative” reviews seem to agree with that assessment.

If you enjoy Strategy and Wargaming, then you need to follow its socials. Are we the best strategy gaming website around? I would say so. Heck, what other options do you have? The Wargamer? Please.

So why not give us a follow on the cesspool that is Twitter, or join the 1000 other geriatric patients on Facebook? Or subscribe down below? Or maybe do everything? I don’t care, I’m not your grandmother.

Burden of Command Near The Finish Line?

Last week’s Burden of Command Newsletter proudly announces that the team has finished their last feature. The elusive title even missed its usual spot in my yearly most anticipated games list. So, what have they been working on? Leadership mindsets, an easy-to-use Line of Sight Tool, a Victory Condition Tracker, and a whole lot of balancing across the game’s 70-hour-long campaign.

Volunteer playtesters are needed, apply here.

Advanced Tactics Gold Updated?

The unique World War 2 wargame, Advanced Tactics Gold just got a major update, half a decade after the last one. Erich Ormand has dedicated a year and a half to develop the following features: A new randomized map system with climate zones and random regimes; A new visual pathing system; AI improvements; and so much more. If you’re still interested in giving this oldie goldie a go, the game’s currently 70% off.

Forgotten But Unbroken Joins Microprose

Forgotten but Unbroken, a World War 2 Turn-Based Tactics game developed by Centurion Developments just joined MicroProse’s lineup.

In Forgotten but Unbroken you’re tasked with leading the resistance in Europe against the Axis, in a game that promises to be both rich in story, as much as in gameplay, as you experience the events of the Second World War through the eyes of Commander Martin.

Apart from the usual turn-based, squad management, and base-building aspects, Forgotten but Unbroken is throwing a couple of new systems into the mix by implementing a Diplomacy system that allows players to gather the support of their allies that, in turn, will impact the type and level of support they provide.
