Somasim and Kasedo Games have announced Rise of Industry 2 in the most corny, 80s way imaginable. And that was precisely the point! I guess!

The original Rise of Industry was a management/ tycoon affair set during the early 20th century, where you took to the economic stage as an up-and-coming industrialist. Rise of Industry’s sole DLC, 2130 took the series in a minor foray to the 22nd century, and now, 5 years after the release of RoI, the series is taking itself back to the 80s, set in the land of the brave and the free, as you work your way to turn your American dream into a reality.

Despite the lack of any gameplay, the core of the series is likely to remain the same, with added 80s flavour on top: managing supply chains, production, transportation schedules, setting up new facilities, etc. From Steam’s description of the game “Provide the media industry with televisions, cameras, vinyl records, cassettes, computers, and video game consoles”, I would say the game will focus a lot on the rapid expansion of the media industry in the 80s and early 90s, but that’s just guesswork on my part.

2019’s Rise of Industry was developed by Dapper Penguin Studios. Somasim is the studio responsible for the sleeper hits Project Highrise and City of Gangsters.

No release date has been formalized.
