A lot has happened during this last week. Volition Studios, the folk behind the infamous Saints Row franchise went under after three decades on the scene. Unfortunately, that’s what happens when your marketing plan focuses on destroying your existing audience and going after a woke crowd that has proven, time and time again, that it only supports companies on Twitter. Anyway, here’s some news from the past couple of weeks.

B-17 Flying Fortress The Mighty 8th Redux Out Soon
Microproses’s sponsored Mighty 8th Redux is set to come out to Steam Early Access in the fourth quarter of 2023, with the main campaign playable. The time spent in EA will be focused on “continued improvements and additional new features and campaigns”. Soon-to-be aviators might be pleased to hear that some original team members are currently working on the project too.
Hooded Horse Announces MENACE
Hooded Horse, the ever-expanding publisher of everything strategy games nowadays is publishing MENACE, by the same team that created the beloved Battle Brothers, by borrowing a lot of features from their first hit, including evolving characters, challenging tactical scuffles, army management, and all nicely wrapped up in a sandbox package.
Warsaw 1944 goes free to play, angers the whole community
The decent but not incredible Warsaw 1944, now known as Warsaw Rising: City of Heroes, or just WARSAW, has decided to pull a Creative Assembly pro gamer SAGA move and rebrand a five-year-old title. And while the reasoning behind this change is actually kind of noble, the community is going wild, review-bombing the game, even if it’s free. In a few words, Warsaw removed the strategic layer of the game because the team “felt it did not support the more narrative-driven element of the game”, focusing more on making it a story-driven narrative game focusing on exploring the Warsaw Uprising. The changes were made in conjunction with the Institute of Polish Remembrance. As to why people are made, it makes little to no sense, since they can access the legacy version of the finished game and play the game they were used to.
Company of Heroes 3 Roadmap
David Phan, Executive Produce recognizes the game failed to live up to some players’ expectations at launch, but in this video, he reassures that the team behind Company of Heroes 3 is actively working to improve the player’s experience by polishing the game and improving key systems. Now, I don’t think Company of Heroes 3 is as bad of a game as some people make it out to be. It’s a much more enjoyable experience at launch than Company of Heroes 2 ever was, and hopefully it will only get better with time. It’s just a shame that the grand campaign fell so short of expectations. Fortunately, the team is currently working on a new expansion, set to be released before the end of the year, but no other details were announced as to what this expansion will comprise.
Chromosome Evil 2 To Arrive late 2023
I’ve been talking to the developer of Chromosome Evil and Chromosome Evil 2 and there’s a high likelihood that an interview might happen in the future. following the same vein as the first game, it’s going to be a squad-focused real-time-strategy title where, as commander of a military convoy, you’ll be facing the unholy hordes of ancient lovecraftian horrors. I’ve been playing around the first and it’s a decent enough game, especially because it was made by a very minute team. Chromosome Evil is on sale at the moment.
Anno 1800 Gets Official Mod Support
The best Anno to date, apart from Anno 1503, is once again in the limelight because Ubisoft managed to do something sensible for once and opened the gates for the fans of its franchise to start making custom content. Not sure why larger companies are such wussies when it comes to fan-made content, especially when it only serves to improve the value of their game. Anyways, Anno 1800, and 1053 are currently on sale.
Victory At Sea: Atlantic Is A Thing
After their sucess with Victory at Sea: Pacific, Evil Twin Artworks is taking itss talents to another ocean. No longer you’ll be commanding the Tasks Forces of the Pacific Fleet, instead you’ll be threading the UBOAT infested waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Not a lot of detail is available right now, but the team plans on taking their title through six months of Early Access prior to a full release, in order to get feedback from the community. No date for Victory at Sea: Atlantic’s D-Day has been set.
Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector – Daemons of Khorne Out Now
Black Lab Games keeps on adding new stuff to the already chock-full Warhammer 0,000: Basttlesector. After the Necrons come the Daemons of Khorne. The Blood Legions will feature immediately recognizable classics like the Bloodletters and Bloodcrushers, Skull Cannons Bloodthirster, and Daemon Princes. If you want to harness blood for the Blood God, and skulls for the Skull Throne, then it’s going to set you back 4,99€.
