Hello! How are you? If you’ve been following my Facebook Page, you already know that things have been rather slow because I’ve recently broken a foot. And while I don’t write with my big toes, the pain makes it somewhat challenging to concentrate. However, the show must go on, and there’s news needing coverage, from Stronghold to Men of War, a lot has happened. Let’s get into it!

Firefly Studios is back on track, and fans are in for a treat as the highly-anticipated Stronghold: Definitive Edition is set to launch with enhanced graphics, bringing the beloved classic from 2001 to modern glory later this year
If you’re a die-hard fan of the original Stronghold (like yours truly), get ready to embark on a nostalgia-filled journey through the world of sieges, strategy, and medieval grandeur. Nova Roma
In the world of delightful city-building games, a new contender is on the horizon: Nova Roma.
As the name suggests, Nova Roma translates to “New Rome,” offering a clear insight into the game’s central theme. Step into the role of a leader, guiding a small yet determined group of citizens through the task of resurrecting a new Rome from its decadent state.
Men of War 2 Open Beta
It’s time to bring out the big guns and dispels the idea that Men of War II lost the battle for the middle ground between the Company of Heroes and Combat Mission to Call to Arms. After a lukewarm reception during its multiplayer beta a couple of months back, Best Way is running a final beta weekend that’ll last from August 10th to August 14th. Yet, one question remains: Is Men of War 2 back with a renewed sense of purpose, ready to reclaim a position it proudly held for years in the RTS WW2 market?
Here’s what you’ll be able to try out during the 4 days the open beta will last: Competitive PvP multiplayer across several modes and maps, a Line Defense PvE mode; and 3 single player/co-op missions. Since my broken leg will prevent me from going out for several weeks, I’ll be putting Men of War II through its paces during the open beta, and maybe publish a feature of it.
Panzer Campaigns – Orel ’43 Announced
The second of three titles from Dani Asensio in the Panzer Campaigns series covering the Soviet offensives in the south, during the summer of 1943 is Wargame Design Studios‘ latest announcement, as the publisher hopes to release it before the end of 2023. I’ll update you when more details become available.
Xenonauts 2 First Early Access Milestone Reached
Xenonauts 2, one of my favorite games released this year has now reached its first early access milestone, this is intended on squashing bugs and on implementing new gameplay changes. See here:
- It is now possible to redirect aircraft squadrons that are already in flight via the Launch Aircraft panel (this also allows you to split aircraft out of airborne squadrons).
- Updated the AI so it will only perform attacks on units that an alien unit has seen that turn, as it was apparently previously ignoring the vision rules due to a bug. This could lead to some rather unfair situations where enemies were shooting beyond vision range or throwing grenades over walls at units they had never seen.
- Cleaner units were reduced in Accuracy from 65 down to 55 for the suited guys (Agents) and 60 for the hazmat guys (Soldiers).
- Accuracy for enemies on Recruit difficulty has been dropped from 85% of normal values down to 80% of normal values.
- Stun Gun has been buffed a little – it now does slightly more Stun Damage, has improved accuracy, and holds 4 shots rather than 3.
- UFO Armour and Health are now shown at maximum zoom level in air combat.
- Updated a number of translation language files to incorporate various changes and fixes.
