The fact I’m currently writing this on a Ducky keyboard probably means I’ll be writing more than usual, so please excuse me if I indulge in extensive typing this time around. Anyway, looking at the lineup of this weekly news update it seems wargamers are due to end for a happy couple of weeks. Let’s go!

Broken Arrow Screenshots
One of the games being teased prior to the gameplay reveal at Home of Wargamers + is Broken Arrow, a sort of spiritual successor of the Wargame series but, from what is shown, it’s going to take a more realistic, slow-paced route, which is perfectly fine by yours truly. Broken Arrow Facebook page released a couple of screenshots, take a gander at them below. The units look fantastically detailed but the scenario screenshots have me questioning how ready for a gameplay release it is. Comparing the size of the units to the buildings, one thing that becomes clear is that they are way more proportional than their Wargame counterparts.
Wargame Design Studio Sale
Wargame Design Studio is having a busy 2021. After successfully acquiring all the John Tiller assets in September, they’ve been busying themselves by updating existing titles and creating new ones. In case you want to know more, you can read my interview with David Spree, from Wargame Design Studios on the legacy of John Tiller and their future plans for the series. This year’s sale will run from December 15th all the way to January 3rd of 2022. All titles will have their prices cut by 25%, dropping their prices down to $29.95. The only exceptions will be the two titles released this year, Kiev ’43 and Civil War Battles – Forgotten Campaigns.
Wargame Design Studio is looking for people willing to answer a quick survey about their recent transition from JTS to WDS, their new website, and plans for future development. Here’s the link if you want to lend a helping hand.
Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts Steam Launch
Well, well. Look who decided to show up on Steam, Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts. After recently releasing their first version of the game’s promised campaign, and despite it being really underwhelming here’s hoping the Steam release will push Game Labs harder to finally release something feature complete. UA: Dreadnoughts is an absolutely incredible game from a technical standpoint and the amount of content alone is enough to justify the purchase and the relatively low asking price. What bothers me about it, is the extremely slow-paced development cycle. But it’s always better to play a good later down the line, than a terrible game today, so… fingers crossed for this one.
If you already bought the game directly from Game Labs then you should be getting your Steam key during the next couple of weeks, find more here.
Dune Spice Wars
Riding high on the recent success of the Dune movie, and nearly 20 years later since the last title, the series that pioneered a genre (RTS) is getting Dune: Spice Wars, self describes as “A real-time strategy game with 4X elements, from the developers of the critically acclaimed Northgard“. Not sure how it’s going to play out but I’m always for new and innovative ideas. There’s still no release date but the Steam page indicates it’s going to come out somewhere during the following year and will continue development through the Early Acess program.
Homeworld 3 Gameplay Reveal
All the classics are coming back in 2021! First, Age of Empires IV was a hit, Gary Grigsby War in The East 2 has returned, Dune is making a return with Spice Wars and now Homeworld 3 finally revealed its gameplay trailer. And some still say the RTS genre is dead. From the trailer, it seems Homeworld 3 is bringing back the space combat of its first two entries. It’s all really impressive and the story is going to pick up from the second: “Homeworld’s game-of-the-year winning story continues. Since the end of Homeworld 2, the galaxy enjoyed an age of abundance thanks to the Hyperspace Gate Network. Cycles of plenty and war have come and gone. Now the gates themselves are catastrophically failing and Karan, who has passed into myth and religious idolatry, is the key to the mystery threatening a galaxy’s future”.
Cities Skylines Airports DLC Announced
A new expansion is landing soon in Cities: Skylines called Airports. Not a lot of information is available at the moment but taking from the Steam page description, this new DLC is going to allow players to build their own airport. Anything that adds content to Cities Skylines is a win in my book. The best city-builder ever keeps getting better.
