Finally! A week of major news and non-stop wargaming releases! Home of Wargamers is happening in a couple of weeks, Dune: Spice Wars is out in a couple of days, and Company of Heroes 3 is coming along well and pretty. Let’s get into it!

Home of Wargamers Live Is Happening May 10th, 2022

The single, largest wargaming event of Slitherine and Matrix is happening in a couple of weeks and hopefully, it will be half as good as the one in December of last year. I’m expecting to hear more about Broken Arrow and Modern Naval War, if my wildest dreams come true, we may even get a release date for these titles! Watch the thing in here.

SGS Pacific D-Day Releasing This Week

If everything goes according to plan, Strategy Game Studio enjoyers will be launching their invasion (or defense) of the Iwo Jima very soon. In fact, SGS’s latest effort releases on the 28th of April with 5 scenarios ranging from November 1943 to March 1945:

• Operation Galvanic: the Battle of Tarawa, 20 to 23 November 1943.
• Operation Forager: Part 1, the Battle of Saipan, 15 June to 9 July 1944.
• Operation Forager: Part 2, The Battle of Tinian, 24July to 1 August 1944.
• Operation Stalemate II: the Battle of Peleliu, September 15 to November 27, 1944.
• Operation Detachment: the Battle of Iwo Jima, 19 February to 26 March 1945.

Interesting, as most SGS games go, Pacific D-Day Invasion already puts the American forces in the shoes of the victor. Instead, the question it wants to ask is at what cost can you achieve that certain victory?

Dune: Spice Wars Out On The 26th

If the fantastic Northgard is something to go by, then Dune: Spice Wars sure is in good hands, but we’ll find that out in just a couple more days, when it releases on Steam Early Access in April 26. In a recent Community FAQ, Shiro Games claimed that “The game is primarily an adaptation of the books, but many other Dune sources have influenced us in our design, including the board games, comics, card games, and the Denis Villeneuve movie. Every stone added to the edifice helps make it grander, even if the books obviously remain the seminal work”. It’s launching with 4 playable factions (Atreides, Harkonnen, Fremen, and Smugglers) with plans to add more in the future.

The game, however, will have no campaign at release. Dune: Spice Wars will set you back $29.99 or your regional equivalent.

Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector Necrons DLC Is Out Now

The latest addition to Slitherine’s Battlesector might be looking fantastic and light on the wallet, but the failure to include a custom-made single-player campaign placed the Necrons below Steam’s positive threshold, with only 47% of its current reviews being positive. The effects to try and plug this gap with a randomly generated gauntlet of unrelated extraterrestrial scuffles did little to soften wargamers’ hearts.

Klotzen! Panzer Battles Out In A Couple Of Days

Klotzen! Panzer Battles is doing little to excite me about it. It’s scared to stray too far from the proverbial clássics of Panzer Generals and Panzer Corps of this world. In the absence of more details and Gameplay impressions, I will keep my wits about this one. Here’s a quick feature list:

Art In Company Of Heroes 3

Everytime Company of Heroes 3 materializes into my field of view a smile stretches across my face. The first one was an instant classic, the second a soulless cash cow but it seems that Relic is back on track with the third. Here are three minutes on how the artistic team is blending Hollywooding the Second World War. Dirt on vehicles, damage from shells and bullets, all fine stuff.
