Four years after the second release of the Total War:Warhammer series, the franchise will come to chaotic conclusion with what appears to be a hard focus on the northern realms and the Gods of Chaos, taking place in “a dimension of mind-bending horror where the very fate of the world will be decided“.
The description within Warhammer III Steam page clearly highlights the kingdoms of Kislev (the trailer above) and the Empire of Grand Cathay with CA, confirming that Games Workshop has expanded and developed these factions while partnering with them. The Warhammer-Community.Com reads as follows: “Regular readers of Warhammer Community will know that the Games Workshop creative studio is hard at work on Warhammer The Old World, a project that will see the return of the world-that-was to the tabletop, and their designs have fed directly into the development of Total War: Warhammer III. Check out this exclusive piece of concept art for the Kislevite Gryphon Legion for a taste of what they’ve been working on.” in addition to this, they’ve also confirmed that “The Dragon Empire of Cathay has long been mentioned in the background of Old World history and, thanks to the Warhammer studio’s work in close partnership with Creative Assembly, fans will be able to get their first real taste of this fascinating empire in Total War: Warhammer III at launch“.
Reading over the FAQ and the Warhammer Community page they clearly reveal the existence of four factions on the Chaotic side of things “The four Ruinous Powers rule over this place, ever seeking to slip their bonds and engulf the world in a tide of daemonic corruption. Nurgle, the plague god; Slaanesh, the lord of excess; Tzeentch, the changer of ways; and Khorne, the god of blood and slaughter.” Reading the FAQ page indicates that 9 Legendary Lords will be available from the get go. It also reads that TW-Warhammer III will be the entry with the largest selection of individual races than any other.
As was promised way back then, there is going to be a massive combined map of all three games that will be a free DLC (See Mortal Empires for TW:WII and TW:WI). Aside from the need to have all the games in the same digital platform to be able to enjoy this DLC nothing much was added. Other details will be revealed later on. Mod support will also be available at launch.
The game is going to be released later this year on Steam and Epic Games Store.
