Grand Strategy and Management
Darkest Hour: A Hearts of Iron Game (2,49€) – A former mod turned into an official game, the Darkest Hour takes the HoI 2 formula to world war 1. If you want a trip back to one of the most memorable strategy mods ever made it hardly gets cheaper
ENDLESS Legend – 6,24 € – It’s Civilization but good and with alien. Watch trailer instead of reading.
Hearts of Iron IV – 9,99 – “this is a game that focus mainly on 3 things, diplomacy, logistics and military strategic command to the detriment of everything else. And while it does not excel at any of those, it does not fail either. It’s a double edge sword. There’s a really deep ocean of gameplay and choices here, but probably not on the departments most fans of previous Hearts of Iron are looking for. The game is great for role-play, not so much for historical accuracy”.
Sid Meier’s Beyond Earth – 9,99 – I’m not going to create a 4X category just to slot-in Beyond Earth. Fight me! A personal favourite for me. I just love the idea of establishing a new Civ in an unknown water planet filled with alien creatures that pose as much as a treat for me as other humans do. I’m tired of fighting humans in games, more giant, menacing aliens please.
Cities: Skylines – 6,99 € – If any city builder has the claim to be the spiritual sucessor to Sim City 4 it’s this one. Bringing the formula back to its roots Skylines keeps it simple. Build roads, zone areas by paiting and keep plopping down utility buildings. Paradox has steadily been adding content for years and you won’t find a better game in this genre. Though the base game seems very bare when you start looking at all the cool stuff available in the expansion packs. Paradox will Paradox.
